Christodoulos Sozos and his wife

CYLHA.01.001.004.001.0013 Christodoulos Sozos (1872–1912), a Greek Cypriot politician and lawyer, is pictured here with his wife, Ermioni Sozou, in a formal portrait. Sozos served as a member of the Cypriot Legislative Council (1901–1911), Mayor of Limassol (1908–1912), and Limassol–Paphos MP (1908–1912). On 7 November 1912, he voluntarily enlisted in the Greek Army as a private, fighting in the First Balkan War, and was killed in action on 6 December 1912. Christodoulos Sozos, standing on the right, is dressed in a dark formal suit, paired with a high-collared white shirt and a bow tie. His beard and mustache are neatly trimmed. Ermioni Sozou, seated on the left, is elegantly dressed in a patterned full-length gown featuring intricate designs. The gown has a high neckline adorned with lace detailing and decorative elements on the bodice and sleeves. Her hair is styled in an elaborate updo, popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, adding to her graceful appearance.
