Description:
A photograph of Luigina Vassiliades (née Carletti), Kadriye Carletti (née Arif), Sylvia Taylor (née Carletti) and Joseph Carletti c. 1963, taken on the occasion of the communion of Sylvia Taylor. Joseph and Kadriye were Sylvia’s grandparents, whereas Luigina was Joseph’s first cousin once removed. The two women are wearing western-style formal dresses and necklaces, while the man is dressed with a European-style dark coloured striped suit, a white shirt and a tie. In his left hand he is holding his hat. The child is dressed like a bride, with the traditional white communion dress. The dress is floor-length with long sleeves. The head of the child is decorated with a flower crown and a long transparent veil, which is attached to the crown and it is falling over the shoulders. She is also wearing white gloves and white shoes.
