Description:
Yelekkin (waistcoat, turk. yelek) made of striped woollen fabric at the front, and black velvet at the back. In the middle of the back is a vertical slit, which is fastened by a black ribbon. Above the slit there is a lozenge-shaped pattern with two spirals made of orange, green and blue thread. The front consists of two pieces of woollen fabric of the same size that are crossed, leaving a horseshoe-shaped opening at the neck. On the right side there is a square design embroidered with orange and green thread. The yelekkin is cross-buttoned, with obliquely set buttons that are secured on the inside by loops attached to a black woollen braid. Both the buttons and the button-holes are made of black braid and seiritia (cords, ribbons turk. şirit/şerit), and are attached to the two front panels, thus making it possible to cross the Yelekkin on either side. Twisted braids, gaitania (braids) and seiritia form a variety of patterns. The inside is reinforced with white cotton.
