Yelekkin (waistcoat, turk. yelek) made of woollen fabric at the front and black velvet at the back. In the middle of the back is a vertical slit, which is fastened by a green ribbon. Above the slit there is a rectangular pattern with two spirals made of orange, green and blue threads. The front consists of two pieces of woollen fabric of the same size, which are crossed, leaving a semi-circular shaped opening at the neck. On the right side there is a square embroidered pattern made of orange and blue threads. Also there is a vase-shaped pocket made of black and green velvet embroidered with orange and blue threads. The yelekkin is cross-buttoned, with obliquely set buttons that are secured on the inside by loops attached to a black woollen braid. Both the buttons and the button-holes are made of black braid and seiritia (cords, ribbons turk. şirit/şerit), and are attached to the two front panels, thus making it possible to cross the yelekkin on either side. At the bottom there is zig-zag embroidery of orange and blue threads. The inside is reinforced by white cotton material. The yelekkin has twisted braids, gaitania (braids) and seiritia, which form a variety of patterns on the back. On the inside there is a stamp writing: ‘‘Paragogos (Producer) – Georgios Filis – Lefkosia (Nicosia) – Kypros (Cyprus)’’.
