Description:
Yelekkin (waistcoat, turk. yelek) made of claret velvet fabric at the front and black velvet at the back. In the middle of the back is a vertical slit, which is fastened by a red ribbon. The front consists of two pieces of felt of the same size that are crossed, leaving a semi-circular shaped opening at the neck. On the right side there is a vase-shaped pocket made of black and green velvet. The yelekkin is cross-buttoned, with obliquely set buttons that are secured on the inside by loops attached to a black wool braid. Both the buttons and the button-holes are made of black braid and seiritia (cords, ribbons turk. şirit/şerit), and are attached to the two front panels, thus making it possible to cross the yelekkin on either side. The inside is reinforced by white cotton material. On the inside there is a stamp witting: ‘‘Paragogos (Producer) – Georgios Filis – Lefkosia (Nicosia) – Kypros (Cyprus)’’.
