Description:
Yelekkin (waistcoat, turk. yelek) is made of striped red, blue, yellow, white and green cotton fabric alatzia (turk. alaca) at the front and back. In the middle of the back is a vertical slit, which is fastened by a blue ribbon. The front consists of two pieces of felt of the same size that are crossed, leaving a semi-circular shaped opening at the neck. On the right side there is a vase-shaped pocket made of the same fabric embroidered with black threads. The yelekkin is cross-buttoned, with obliquely set buttons that are secured on the inside by loops attached to a black wool braid. Both the white plastic buttons and the button-holes are attached on black braid and seiritia (cords, ribbons turk. şirit/şerit), and are attached to the two front panels, thus making it possible to cross the yelekkin on either side. All around the openings there is triangular pattern embroidered with black threads. The inside is reinforced with white cotton material.
