Description:
Yelekkin (waistcoat, turk. yelek) made of black woollen fabric at the front and black velvet at the back. In the middle of the back is a vertical slit, which is fastened by a blue ribbon. Above the slit there is a rectangular decoration made of orange, green and blue thread. The front consists of two pieces of felt of the same size that are crossed, leaving a semi-circular opening at the neck. On the right side there is a vase-shaped pocket made of black velvet embroidered with orange and blue threads. Over the pocket there is embroidered decoration made of green, orange and blue threads and the year 1912. The yelekkin is cross-buttoned, with obliquely set buttons that are secured on the inside by loops attached to a black woollen braid. Both the buttons and the button-holes are made of black braid and seiritia (cords, ribbons turk. şirit/şerit), and are attached to the two front panels, thus making it possible to cross the yelekkin on either side. The inside is reinforced with white cotton material.
