Description:
Yelekkin (waistcoat, turk. yelek) made of dark green velvet at the front and black velvet at the back. In the middle of the back is a vertical slit, which was fastened by a ribbon (missing). The front consists of two pieces of velvet of the same size, which are crossed, leaving a horseshoe-shaped opening at the neck. On the right side there is a vase-shaped pocket made of the same fabric. The yelekkin is cross-buttoned, with obliquely set buttons that are secured on the inside by loops attached to a black woollen braid. Both sides have buttons. The button-holes, which are made of black braid and seiritia (cords, ribbons turk. şirit/şerit), are attached to the two front panels, so that the yelekkin can cross on either side. All around the openings there is zig-zag embroidery with pink, blue and red threads. The inside is lined by white cotton material. On the inside there is a stamp writing: ‘‘Paragogos (Producer) – Georgios Filis – Lefkosia (Nicosia) – Kypros (Cyprus)’’.
